In celebration of the fiftieth anniversary of the publication of Howl, Ginsberg and other writers of the Beat Generation, and the spirit of the counter culture, the Load of Fun Gallery and PoetryInBaltimore.com are hosting "Bohemian Roots 1956: A Tribute to Allen Ginsberg and the Beat Generation," an evening of Beat poetry performances, live jazz, and a multi-voiced performance of Howl accompanied by live beat box. Selected works by Jack Kerouac, Diane di Prima, Lawrence Ferlinghetti, and others will be performed by local poets such as Rosemary Klein, Gregg Mosson, and Karla Mancero, with live jazz accompaniment, followed by a special Allen Ginsberg Tribute Reading of favorite Ginsberg poems. The evening will culminate in a performance of Ginsberg's Howl arranged by Brian E. Langston for multiple voices and live beat box accompaniment by Shodekeh. An open mic will follow.

For the current, full lineup of performers and poems, please see the tentative schedule and the list of performers.

IMPORTANT NOTE ON PARKING: Space is at a premium at and around the Load of Fun Gallery. We recommend that you park on Maryland or Charles Streets, or in any of the several parking lots around the Charles Theater.
