Brian E. Langston

Mayhem Onward! is Brian E. Langston is Mayhem Onward! is the name for Brian E. Langston's musical project, band-of-one, recording group, faux-label, poetry experiment, etc.

Brian E. Langston is a poet and musician living in the cracked-street, broken-down beauty of Charm City a.k.a Baltimore, Maryland.

Mayhem Onward! is a philosphy of moving forward despite the status quo, attempting to change the status quo, throwing in a little dischordianist hoohah whenever and wherever appropriate. Red is Green.

Brian E. Langston is a transplant to the East Coast from the idyllic Southern California town of Santa Barbara, where, among other things, he performed as the guitarist in the punk/hard rock power trio, Babelfish42. During his tenure, Babelfish42 self-released a 6-song EP entitled "Bipolar" and played numerous gigs on the SoCal scene, culminating in an opening slot for the major-label band Cold.

His poems have been published in various issues of Catalyst, Spectrum, 4x4 The Newport Review, Attic, Perpetuum Mobile, Octopus Dreams, and Poems Against War. His short story, Love and Nicotine, appears in issue 10 of the Hamilton Stone Review.

He has given numerous performances of music, poetry, and other solo work in both California and Maryland, and has helped organized events in both states, including Bohemian Roots 1956: A Tribute to Allen Ginsberg and the Beat Generation in October of 2006 for the 50th anniversary of the publication of Howl and the hugely successful Nine of Hearts art, poetry, music, and performance collaboration at the Load of Fun in February of 2007.

He recently worked with the Maryland State Poetry & Literary Society to host the 3rd Sunday Reading Series at Minás Gallery and was part of several events at the 2007 Baltimore Book Festival. He's currently helping out with the Baltimore-based annual poetry journal, Poems Against War, as well as numerous solo and collaborative projects with his fiancée, the poet Karla Mancero.
