Third Sunday Reading Series @ Minás Gallery at 815 W. 36th Street, Baltimore, MD

Close out the 2007 Maryland State Poetry and Literary Society's Third Sunday reading series at Minás Gallery with poetry by Julie Fisher (PoetryInBaltimore.com), Jacob Shorter (Blind Lady Press), and Nicole Pekarsky (MSP&LS). Hosted by Brian E. Langston. An open mic will follow. $4 suggested donation.

Water for the Wells @ Load of Fun at 120 W. North Ave, Baltimore, MD

Come see the music and poetry celebration of Water for the Wells. The lineup includes the conscious funk of R.A.M., folk stylings of Tom Swiss and Jasaga, and the poetry of Alan Barysh, Marcus Colasurdo, Gregg Mosson, Suzanne X, and many others.

This event is a fundraiser for the "Water for the Wells" project, which is a series of readings and events now half way to raising $1,200 to build a single well in Mali, East Africa. For more on Water for the Wells, see Gregg Mosson's Baltimore Indy Media article.

Poems Against War Reading @ the Load of Fun at 120 W. North Avenue, Baltimore, MD

Poems Against War celebrates the publication of its 6th Issue ("Music & Heroes").

Featuring music by Riot Folk Artist Ryan Harvey. Poetry performances by Gregg Mosson, Alan Barysh, and Brian E. Langston. Music by Jasaga, Brian E. Langston, Michael Monrone, and Tom Swiss. Madeleine Mysko reads her anti-war essay (published in the Baltimore Sun and on RavingDove.org) and poetry by Wilfred Owen.

Representatives from Women in Black and the Baltimore Independent Reader will be on hand to discuss to current peace-related activities.

Hosted by PoetryInBaltimore.com. $4 donations requested to support the venue and local peace causes.

DOUBLE PUBLICATION READING! Jen Michalski, local fiction writer and editor of the on-line literary e-zine JMWW, reads selections from her collection of stories, Close Encounters, published in June 2007 by SoNew Media, followed by a round robin reading of anti-war poems in celebration of the sixth issue of Poems Against War, "Music & Heros". Journal editor Gregg Mosson will read American war poems from Walt Whitman, Robert Bly, Bruce Weigl, Yusef Komunyakaa, and Iraq veteran Brian Turner; followed by the contemporary Baltimore poets from the magazine Charles Rammelkamp and Marcus Colasurdo. Team Shadowboat Benefit Concert @ the Current Gallery at 30 S. Calvert Street, Baltimore, MD.

Show your support for Team Shadowboat by coming out to this benefit performance and gathering. Money raised goes to help cover expenses for the team as they drive their Daihatsu HiJet from London to Mongolia as part of the 2007 Mongol Rally for charity.

Team Shadowboat has already raised over $2,000 for charity, managed to get visas for countries that we bet you couldn't locate on a map, like Kyrgyzstan and Azerbaijan, and even a bought a car, sight unseen, which awaits them in London. Now they just need to raise some spare change to pay for said car and drive it across two continents to Mongolia where a needy farmer awaits... This charity show features The Frauds, Coffee and Cream, Team Shadowboat, Brian E. Langston, and The Dymond Mine. $5.00 minimum donation to help buy a car for a Mongolian farmer.
