Close out the 2007 Maryland State Poetry and Literary Society's Third Sunday reading series at Minás Gallery with poetry by Julie Fisher (PoetryInBaltimore.com), Jacob Shorter (Blind Lady Press), and Nicole Pekarsky (MSP&LS). Hosted by Brian E. Langston. An open mic will follow. $4 suggested donation.

Water for the Wells @ Load of Fun at 120 W. North Ave, Baltimore, MD

Come see the music and poetry celebration of Water for the Wells. The lineup includes the conscious funk of R.A.M., folk stylings of Tom Swiss and Jasaga, and the poetry of Alan Barysh, Marcus Colasurdo, Gregg Mosson, Suzanne X, and many others.

This event is a fundraiser for the "Water for the Wells" project, which is a series of readings and events now half way to raising $1,200 to build a single well in Mali, East Africa. For more on Water for the Wells, see Gregg Mosson's Baltimore Indy Media article.

Donations to support the project are greatly appreciated.

Poems Against War celebrates the publication of its 6th Issue ("Music & Heroes").

Featuring music by Riot Folk Artist Ryan Harvey. Poetry performances by Gregg Mosson, Alan Barysh, and Brian E. Langston. Music by Jasaga, Brian E. Langston, Michael Monrone, and Tom Swiss. Madeleine Mysko reads her anti-war essay (published in the Baltimore Sun and on RavingDove.org) and poetry by Wilfred Owen.

Representatives from Women in Black and the Baltimore Independent Reader will be on hand to discuss to current peace-related activities.

Team Shadowboat has already raised over $2,000 for charity, managed to get visas for countries that we bet you couldn't locate on a map, like Kyrgyzstan and Azerbaijan, and even a bought a car, sight unseen, which awaits them in London. Now they just need to raise some spare change to pay for said car and drive it across two continents to Mongolia where a needy farmer awaits...
